I drove the course a couple of days before the event just to get a feel for the route. I was actually really glad I did this because I tend to focus more on my run than the scenery when I'm racing. It's absolutely breath-taking. I'm originally from the midwest, so we just don't get views like this out there. The Hwy 1 is a really cool road and I envy anyone who gets to drive it on a daily basis.

In terms of the logistics, organization was fantastic. Kudos to the race director and volunteers for running a fine-tuned machine.

The strawberries on the course were a huge surprise to me. Unfortunately my stomach didn't agree with them a couple miles later, but they were damn tasty at the time!

I don't need to be a broken record here and repeat on the comments, but the course is beautiful. It's truly the reason that most people signup for this race.

I knew from the profile that there was a pretty good climb at ~ mile 11, but nothing prepared me for the 500' climb. I'm a flat-lander myself, so hill training for me is pretty tough. I ended up walking a good majority of it, but I wasn't that disappointed because then I was finally able to enjoy the spectacular sights. I'd like to thank all the volunteers who came out as well -- you all did a great job!

This race is a marathoner's dream. This marked my 35th marathon and my only regret is that I didn't race it earlier. The picturesque views are absolutely stunning. The hills are a pain in the 'A', but well worth it. Organization was top-notch and there were plenty of aid stations along the way. All around a superb course.
