Crater Lake Marathon

3.2 (1 reviews)

Klamath Falls, OR
August 12, 2017

A point-to-point race in the beautiful Crater Lake National Park running along the challenging Rim Drive. Most of the climbing is done mid-race from miles 9 -13 (1000' hill), but also watch out for the late hill at miles 22 - 24 (800' gain). Note that the course elevation is between 6,700' and 7,900'. Also, the terrain is all paved roads except the last four miles which is dirt/pumice cinders.

Pros-
1. Scenic course with beautiful views. The park is a great spot to visit. The course is challenging but worth it for the views. It is hilly but more downhill running than uphill.

Cons
1. Bus rides to the start and from the finish make for a long day. The bus ride back to where we started make my husband and I nauseous. The start is cold with no shelter
2. Confusing logistics and difficult to get to.
3. Not much at the finish line
