I did this one in 2014 after a very heavy rain (4:20). It was a bit difficult finding the start during the downpour. Co-RD Frank's explanation of the last minute re-routing necessitated by the rain included the "gully" we'd encounter about a quarter mile into the race. There were maybe two dozen of us & as we approached what had grown to a virtual river, we all assumed that couldn't be Frank's "gully" ... & we all went wrong. The entire field eventually circled back to the start &, this time, Frank led us thru the gully (which in his re-telling of the story was chest deep). The last minute re-jiggered course was a repeated out & back that had us crossing that gully more than a dozen times. This was my first experience with water crossings & I'm thankful to Frank for the experience ... it's no big deal, you just go thru & then it's slosh, slosh, slosh for a little while & then your feet aren't much wetter than they would've been anyway. I'll eventually do this one again so I can see the full course.
