The Farm Park Marathon is 5 laps of a 5-mile loop on the natural surface trails of the Farm Park. Each loop will have grassy sections as well as double track including some sections with exposed rocks and roots and a couple of creek crossings. You will likely get your feet wet. For the most part the trail is fast and highly runnable. There are a few hills, but no major climbs.

In 2017 the course was two alternating out & backs, with roughly the first mile in common. "The challenge" is an interesting format. After each (roughly) 5-mile out & back, you have to wait until the top of the hour to start again, so the "race" part is the final out & back. I entered the 6-hour challenge & was able to do the 1st three segments in under an hour each, but then couldn't keep up after that so I was out of the challenge (I did finish the marathon though). It's a very pleasant course, some wooded, some in the open. I don't recall running on grass as much in any other trail marathon I've done. It was well organized. I'll be back for the challenge next year. It's a pretty easy course for a trail run - a few hills, but nothing big & not very technical terrain. It's well marked & given the format you almost always have other runners in sight, so you're not going to get lost.
