The Onward Shay Marathon and Half Marathon will begin and end in beautiful downtown Boise, Idaho alongside the Boise River. The course will follow the greenbelt, a paved foot path that spans miles of connected parks along the beautiful Boise River from one end of the city to the other, passing by Boise State University before weaving in and out of downtown Boise, past the state’s Capitol Building and travel through scenic Boise neighborhoods including historic Harrison Blvd. and Warm Springs Blvd., up 13th St. through Hyde Park.

A point-to-point road race starting on Crestview Rd. at the top of the Buckskin Saddle (6,000' ASL) and finishing in Pocatello (4,500' ASL). The elevation drop over the entire course is approximately 1,500 feet. The first half drops approximately 1,400 feet, and the second half drops about 150 feet (though has 200 feet of climb as well).

0 to 1 These courses are mostly downhill and very fast – excellent for PR/BQ’s.
1 to 2 A rating of “1” means the course is flat; closer to “2” you can expect small hills.
2 to 3 The course has moderate hills.
3 to 4 The course has substantial hills.
4 to 5 Very difficult course usually with technical terrain.
