Want to run one of the most scenic and flat courses in California? Choose to Run Long Beach this year. Starting/finishing in Downtown Long Beach, the course runs on the Beach Path and continues through Marine Stadium, past Blair Field and then out through the student filled cheer alley at California State University, Long Beach. Re-trace your steps back to downtown, and you’ll be greeted back into Downtown by cheering fans, family and the great sounds and energy at the Finish Line Festival. It’s a race that can’t be missed!

I personally felt that the race was more tailored towards the half marathon racers. Don't get me wrong, the full was still fun, but the halfers WAY outnumbered the full racers and the course seemed to really drop of excitement after they parted. I think I'll do the half next year instead.

This marked my 24th marathon and I've never had such a packed start as with this race... even compared to the horrible RockNRoll marathon I did last year. I don't know if this is something new with this course or it's always been this way, but in my opinion it definitely needs to be changed. Other than that though, I really enjoyed the course. I'm from the midwest, so running on the boardwalk is an awesome experience.
