Wow -- I really wasn't expecting so many runners. I saw that the marathon was around 3500 participants, and I guess I roughly expected the same for the half. I was wrong. I guess all that's okay, but the race was really too congested for me. I like to have my space while running so I'm 'running my own run', but it was really difficult with all the half'ers mixed in.. it really messed with my pace.

It's awesome having a full and half marathon at the same time. This allowed me to run the full and my son to run the half. Great bonding!

The course is mostly flat and perfect for a PR. The weather might be a little too warm for some, but I love the heat -- bring it on.

Organization and aid stations were done well. I've ran races before where they're not done well and it can make or break a race. It's nice to see they had their act together.

Loved the course, but I was disappointed to see the crowd support almost completely diminish after 13.1. I guess most people were there to watch all the half runners.

They really need to eliminate the hill at mile 24/25.

After training in the crappy upper-midwest weather, it was awesome to come down and run in the great southern climate.. So I thought. All that training in 10-30 degree weather didn't prove much good on the warm Miami course. It's very difficult to modify your hydration schedule on the fly.. typically I just 'listen' to my body, but I didn't have enough time to acclimate to the pristine weather this time around. Arggg!
