Oklahoma City, OK
April 30, 2017

Voted one of the 12 ‘must-run’ marathons in the world by Runner’s World magazine, the 26.2 miles of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon are packed with cheering supporters and the most beautiful neighborhoods in Oklahoma City. Compete against some of the top runners in the region, and join more than 25,000 participants on the starting line racing to remember the 168 people who were killed in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing in 1995, and to honor those who survived.

I've run the OKC Marathon 5k several times with my family and it is a great event - the race is well organized, the course is not too difficult to run and the value for the money is excellent. this is a great race with proceeds benefitting an amazing organization (the OKC National Memorial). The first time I ran the 5k, there was Starbucks at the finish line... ahhh... bliss. Oklahoma is not really known for its marathons (...yet!), but I'm happy to say that this race is one you will not forget!

For a 'smaller' marathon, I was pleasantly surprised to see so much of the community/neighborhoods come out and cheer us on.. It really made the time go by and helped me tremendously as I started to run out of gas around mile 22. If you were one of them, thanks MUCH for the extra help!

As always, OKC never disappoints. This is one mid-sized marathon that really has their organization down to a T. Everything from the registration, to the expo, to the course, to the post-race… everything is done right. And the course is great --- what more could you want?
