It seems like a lot of people have commented on how boring of a course this is, but honestly, I never get a chance to even notice. Every year I tell myself that I'm going to enjoy the scenery, but I'm always too concentrated on my pace. I guess if you're looking for a scenic course, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a well-oiled organization with great logistics, this is it. I've ran Portland twice and had a great race each time. And even though the fans are a little intermittent at times, they are always very enthusiastic and help to pull you through the lulls. Overall, I give this race high marks.

I had a blast at the Portland Marathon! I thought it was very well organized and everyone was extremely friendly. I also reallly enjoyed the course as it wasn't too flat or hilly -- it was a perfect mix. Unfortunately I left my Garmin on from the night before so I was running blind in terms of pace, yet I still almost PR'd! Maybe I should run without my watch more often!
