I'm glad I didn't come out for a personal record on this course -- the hills were relentless. The race is really popular, so I was honestly expected something more flat.

The overall race management was so-so and seemed like there was much room for improvement. For starters, the first portion of the race was a complete zoo and I was dodging slower runners left and right. It took forever to get spread out. Also, port-a-jons were packed at the start -- I hate that. And, the expo was okay, but nothing special.

I still had a good time and it was a fun race, but probably not worth the hype.

I can't understand why everyone wants a boring/flat marathon. I know 26 miles is a huge accomplishment in itself, but the hills are what give the course some character. It would be boring if every marathon were pancake flat.

Sadly, I think this will be my last RnR race. As others have pointed out, the marathon is quite pricey and there's really nothing that makes it stand out. I have ran both the Vegas and Seattle RnR before, and they're really the same thing --- lots of advertising but poor race management. There's something to be said about the non-stop course entertainment though. For someone who likes to run with my iPod, this felt right at home. Personally though, there are many other better marathons in the area to chose from.

Thank you Nashville for hanging on during the rain! You always know you're around great people when they're willing to come out in such crappy weather and still wear a smile. Thanks again to all the volunteers!
