I've raced over 20 marathons in the past 12 years, but this was my first R&R. And last. It didn't seem like anyone was running the show and it was completely chaotic. I can't say that I've ever been frustrated with a marathon before, but I definitely was with this one. Lack of aid station support is what did it for me.. they were either out of what I wanted or they were too crowded to get in. I was pushing for a BQ on this one, but I gave up after about mile 10. I blame myself for not hydrating properly, but I didn't have the time to fight the crowds at the stations in the beginning of the race. Overall, it was a huge disappointment. R&R -- please fix this.

I've ran two R/R half marathons in the past, but this was my first full. I was really excited because I had a good time at the halfs, so I was expecting double the fun for the full.

Overall, it was a big disappointment. The marathon was a little pricey, which I was okay with, but I was expecting much more. At the very least, I was expecting good logistics, which didn't happen. Everything seemed packed and poorly organized.. from the expo to the post-race, nothing ran smooth. The worst was that the aid stations in the first half of the race were totally crowded and the volunteers were completely overwhelmed. I don't know why they didn't have more staff on those stations. It was very difficult to get fluid, which should never happen.

In terms of the course, it was good, but it was really lonely after the split. It was almost like we were forgot about. It's too bad because the course wasn't too bad. It would have been decent if it had more support.

In conclusion, I don't think I'll do another R/R full marathon again.. a half maybe, but not the full.

PROS:
Good course -- DC is awesome
Decent expo
Decent swag
CONS:
Way too crowded -- they need a separate field for the half marathoners
Expensive
Second half of the course is boring (few spectators)
